A monotype 'Spring Reed Beds' printed on 300 gsm acid free paper with Akua printing inks Inspired by my visits to Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset and my fascination with the patterns and colours of the reed beds against the bleak wintry sky
size 20.5 cm square with a wide paper surround on all sides
This print will be posted wrapped in cellophane and packaged in a hard backed envelope
By way of explanation a monotype is different from a monoprint as it is unrepeatable even though it may well have companions using the same colours and design and of the same subject. This one is loosely painted with rollers and I have used various found materials for added texture.
Spring Reed Beds
As each print is hand inked and wiped there will be some minor variations between prints. Equally with mono prints although the same colours and format may be produced on several prints each one will contain very individual marks making it a unique print.
All of my work is produced on acid free printmaking papers I am particularly keen on Somerset and Snowdon. For collage I use acid free archival quality pva fixative and for inking I use Akua Intaglio inks wonderfully environmentally friendly inks which clean up easily with soap and water because it is Soy based. All inks have a standard lightfast reading. As with any original artwork strong direct sunlight may fade colours over time.
My collage pieces are all made from my original hand printed papers and sealed to protect them from any acid in the board (where relevant) and varnished to provide a UV protective barrier against dust and environmental contaminants. Please take care when moving or lightly dusting to prevent physical damage.
Sometimes it is very difficult to reproduce the exact colours through photography so your original print may vary slightly in colour from that on your computer screen.
